As long as those stocks and bonds are not in a tax deferred account you get “stepped up value” which means the tax basis changes to the price on the day of death and there is no taxes, no gains. There may tax on any interest since death but you have to pay that anyway.

So cashing them out is not a problem, not taxable, unless the total estate was many times larger and there would be estate taxes. But the executor should take care of that anyway.

You could simply contact a broker in the states and move them in to a brokerage account there. I think it would be a simple transfer.

I would also suggest you could contact a broker in Canada and they could likely advise you. But I suspect it is easier to sell and move the money than move the particular investments themselves.

Trading platforms today give us these real time quotes and we have the ability to view them in chart form as they happen. What we are focusing on is the DJIA 1 minute chart. Is it possible that some entity is sending out a code as to where the $ DJI (DOW) will trade to a select group of subscribers? Based on my years of work the answer is absolutely. What follows is my years of data collection, proving even to the most skeptical that the DJIA is scripted like a piece of sheet music. When you click on the price action on a 1 minute basis, up pops a box detailing the action for that 1 minute. In my opinion, that box is color coded for select subscribers and within it are details about where the $ DJI (DOW) will trade to the minute and to the penny. The DOW is an index. In my opinion, it is also a hand written program that has been written with the help of a programming computer. The other Indexes (Dow E-Mini, S&P 500 Futures, Nasdaq, QQQ) move off of this system written in the one minute Price Boxes of the DOW.
